mission 2: The measure of the Universe

We, the people of Magrith, measure the Universe in astronomical units different from Earthlings. One of our missions is to obtain information about what kind of measures they use in order to be able to compare them with ours. In this way, we can find out how far we are from Earth and how much time we would spend if we try to reach Earth.

We have to access tO THe POWERFUL SIMULATiON OF THE UNIVERSE INVENTED BY THE BEST SCIENTIST OF OUR PLANET: EINSTWIN. YOU HAVE TO CLICK ON THE IMAGE AT THE BOTTOM.

We begin to expand the scale from the initial screen little by little until we see the Earth next to several moons of the Solar System. From here, we will start to write the data in A TABLE GIVEN FROM the magrith superior council.

THE SCALE OF THE UNIVERSE
HOW THE EARTHLINGS MEASURE

AS YOU CAN FIND OUT IN THE PREVIOUS STUDY, THE earthlings use powers of ten (They called "scientific notation") in order to simplify their measures.

YOU CAN UNDERSTAND IT BETTER WATCHING THE VIDEOS BELOW.

EXAMPLES OF CONVERSIONS WITH SCIENTIFC NOTATION

YOU NEED TO PRACTISE THE EXERCISES OF THE WEBSITE IN ORDER TO FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH THIS NOTATION

HOW FAR ARE WE ARE FROM EARTH?

ATTENTION! WE ARE DETECTING THE EARTHLINGS USE SOME SPECIAL UNITS: THE "LIGHT YEAR" AND THE "PARSEC" FOR LONG DISTANCES. FIND OUT WHAT THEIR MEASURES ARE (CLICK ON THE IMAGE ON THE RIGHT) AND TRY TO CALCULATE HOW FAR WE ARE FROM THE EARTH. you need to ANSWER THE QUESTIONS OF tHE SCIENTIFIC FLEET.
